Is Elos a laser or IPL?
Both at once. Elos combines light energy with bipolar radiofrequency current: light heats the hair, the current boosts the effect inside the follicle. That is why it works where a plain laser does not.
Does it work on light, red or grey hair?
On light, red and vellus hair — yes, thanks to the radiofrequency part, which does not depend on pigment. Fully grey hair has no melanin, so the result is unpredictable — we assess it at the consultation.
Is it safe for dark or tanned skin?
Elos is safe for every skin phototype. After intense sun exposure we wait: the specialist checks the skin and adjusts the settings at the appointment.
How many sessions are needed?
Usually 6–10 sessions with 4–6 weeks in between — hair grows in cycles, and one session only switches off the active follicles. The exact number depends on the zone, hormones and hair type.
Does it hurt?
It feels like warm snaps. The device works with cooling, no anaesthesia is needed. Most clients describe the procedure as easy and quick.
How do I prepare?
For 2–4 weeks do not pull the hair out (no wax, tweezers or epilator) — the root must stay in place. Shave the area the day before. Avoid strong sun and self-tanner for 2 weeks.
What should I avoid afterwards?
For 1–2 days skip the sauna, steam room and pool, do not scrub the area and use SPF. Light redness fades within a few hours.
Who should not have this procedure?
Pregnancy and breastfeeding, oncological conditions, epilepsy, acute infections, damaged or inflamed skin in the treated area, and some skin conditions. We go through the full list at the consultation.
Will the hair be gone forever?
Treated follicles are destroyed and do not come back. Hormonal changes can wake up new ones over time — then one maintenance session every 6–12 months is enough.
